ladder (verified duels only)
how it works
The chain. Pick skills; the matrix says how likely each skill is to be followed by each other skill (weights 0–9, rows normalised). In a duel the ship walks its chain round by round. On a job it runs the same chain forever, and the long-run share of time in each skill (the stationary distribution) decides your credits per minute.
The power plant. The reactor caps how many skills the chain holds, which families it may run (kinetic, energy, burst, defense, stealth, mining, utility), and total power draw for skills plus modules. The hull decides which reactors fit and how many module slots there are.
Jobs. Mining and hauling skills fill your hold while you're away — computed lazily from the clock when you return, up to the hold size. Dock to bank it. Credits buy hulls, reactors and modules.
Async PvP. There is one world: every pilot's ships in their own PDS. Opening a pilot fetches their records lazily and diffs them against the last version you saw. A duel embeds both builds in a duel record in your repo; the fight is a pure function of the two builds, so anyone can recompute it and the ladder only counts duels that check out.
Credits are enforced by the client and the ladder's recomputation, not by a server — it's a playground, so a determined cheater can edit their own repo.
